I was snorkeling at Black Rock in Maui this morning. I went around the point to get away from the other swimmers where I found lots of fish. As I was kicking out of the cove a humongous Honu (Green Sea Turtle) came up alongside of me and started swimming with me. I don’t know if you can tell how big this guy is from the video but he was at least 5 feet long from head to tail. Judging from how long these amazing creatures live, he could have been about 100 years old and had some scars along his shell to show for it. I stayed a safe distance away but he stuck with me for a few minutes before peeling away toward the ocean. All in all, possibly one of the most amazing Hawaii experiences I’ve ever had. Luckily, I had my underwater camera with me at the time to capture it all.
