How to Cut Up a Pineapple
By admin • Jun 5th, 2008 • Category: UncategorizedOkay, it’s something I learned a long time ago but maybe it can be something you learned this week.
When I get to Maui, one of the first things we do is go grocery shopping for the week and the very first stop I make at the market is the produce aisle where I pick out a good Hawaiian pineapple. (Firm, not soft) If you’ve never had a real Maui Gold pineapple you’ve never had a pineapple. Sweet as candy without a hint of sour makes these a real island treat.
Okay… let’s get to it. First of all, if you can, never buy the already sliced pineapple because they tend to dry out a bit. Try to find a whole pineapple. Cutting one up is pretty easy. I’ll show you how to do it right in a few easy steps.
1. Cut off the head of the pineapple.
2. Cut off the bottom of the pineapple.
3. Bisect the pineapple lengthwise
4. Quarter the pineapple down the middle.
5. Slice the dense core out of the middle
6. Cut the rough outer skin off.
7. Look at that beautiful chunk of Maui Gold!
8. Slice into small chunks and enjoy!
And nothing tastes better in the morning for breakfast than a fresh cut pineapple.
